Welcome to Hocus Pocus Hyperfocus, a cozy story game about an absent-minded Witch with a Very Important Thing to do and a lot of little distractions stealing her focus. Hocus Pocus Hyperfocus balances the chaos of an ADHD witch’s life with structure to help you tell a satisfying story, guiding you through frantic ups-and-downs while building towards a climactic story end.

The stories in Hocus Pocus Hyperfocus are structured using the 🎴Deck of Distractions—an oracle deck full of both the tasks that your witch needs to accomplish as well as all the ways that she could be distracted from these very tasks. She has limited energy to complete a seemingly limitless number of tasks. Both task switching and hyper-focusing will take their toll on her over the course of the day.

You will work together to tell the story of a week in the life of a witch, with a Very Important Thing she needs to get done before the week ends, and an extremely distractible mind. You’ll begin by making some decisions about your witch’s life (or use a pre-written story card to get started).

Every morning, your witch wakes up with both a limited pool of energy and the Deck of Distractions (a big deck of beautiful cards that represent all the things she needs to do to get through the week and achieve the Very Important Thing).

Every turn, you will spend some of your witch’s precious energy and tell a story of how she completes a single step on the task that is her Current Focus. After she’s done you’ll have to see if that task’s distraction symbols match any other cards in her focus. If it does— OH NO! She is Distracted! You get to tell the wild and wacky ways her mind wandered to that other thing.

Your witch continues her days, doing her best to get everything she can done with the energy she has and the distractions that come along. Can she achieve enough to scrape by? Will her Very Important Thing turn into a Very Big Disaster? Or will she stay on task long enough to achieve an extraordinary success?
