Posted by Gamelandia on 27th Aug 2024

Hey Gamelandia community! If you’re diving into Altered TCG with the release of Beyond The Gates this September 13th, you’ll love the variety of game formats that cater to all kinds of players. Whether you're a fan of strategic deck-building or prefer the spontaneity of limited formats, there’s something here for everyone. Let's explore the different ways you can play Altered TCG and find the format that suits your style!

Standard Format: The Classic Way to Play

If you’re looking for a straightforward and popular way to play Altered TCG, the Standard format is the go-to option. In this constructed format, each player brings a deck of at least 39 cards, plus one Hero from a single faction. This setup lets you strategize and build your deck ahead of time, perfect for those who enjoy planning and optimizing their playstyle. It’s a one-on-one showdown where you can put your best tactics to the test.

Why play Standard at Gamelandia?

  • Strategy-Driven Gameplay: Allows you to carefully craft your deck and refine your strategies.
  • Head-to-Head Action: A direct competition that’s great for those who love intense, focused matches.

Multiplayer: Team Up for Battle

For those who enjoy team play, the Multiplayer format is a fantastic way to experience Altered TCG. This format pits two teams of two players against each other, allowing for more complex strategies and team coordination. Each player brings their own deck, choosing heroes and factions that complement their teammates’. It’s all about collaboration and outsmarting the opposing team to secure a win!

Why team up at Gamelandia?

  • Collaborative Play: Work with a partner to develop tactics and strategies.
  • Dynamic Matches: Adds a layer of complexity with multiple players, making every match unique and engaging.

Booster Draft: The Thrill of the Unknown

If you love the excitement of making quick decisions and adapting on the fly, the Booster Draft format is for you! Here’s how it works: each player starts with four sealed booster packs. You’ll open a pack, pick a card you think will be useful, and then pass the remaining cards to the next player. This continues until all cards from the packs have been picked. The real challenge comes in building a deck from this limited selection. You’ll need at least 30 cards, and since you don’t know what you’ll end up with, flexibility is key!

This format is perfect for those who thrive under pressure and enjoy thinking on their feet. You can end up with a deck that mixes up to three different factions, so expect to make the most of whatever cards come your way. Every draft is a fresh adventure, making each game session unique and full of surprises.

Why draft at Gamelandia?

  • Spontaneous Fun: You never know what you’re going to get, which keeps things fresh and exciting every time you play.
  • Skill-Based: Booster Draft is all about your ability to adapt and make the best choices with what you have. It’s a great way to develop your strategic thinking and card evaluation skills.

Sealed Deck: Creativity with Constraints

For those who enjoy deck-building with a twist, the Sealed Deck format offers a fantastic challenge. Each player starts with seven sealed booster packs. You open all the packs and build a deck of at least 30 cards from the cards you get. Unlike the Booster Draft, where you pick cards from packs passed around, here you only use the cards you open yourself. You can mix up to three different factions, just like in Booster Draft, but the challenge lies in creating a powerful deck from a random pool of cards.

This format levels the playing field because everyone has the same number of cards to work with, which means it’s all about who can make the most of what they have. It’s a great way to test your creativity and your ability to think on the fly. You have to work with what you get, making every decision count!

Why try Sealed Deck at Gamelandia?

  • Balanced Play: Since everyone starts with a random selection of cards, it’s a fair game from the start. It’s perfect for those who want to compete without worrying about pre-constructed decks.
  • Creative Deck Building: You get to think outside the box and make the best use of the cards you’ve opened. It’s a fantastic way to practice building effective decks with limited resources.
